Skinnydip London 2025 Young Designer of the Year Competition
Terms and Conditions
1. Organiser and Competition Details
1.1. The 2025 Young Designer of the Year Competition (“the Competition”) is organised by Skinnydip London (“the Organiser”).
1.2. The Competition is open to students and young designers aged between 18 – 25 years old, who meet the eligibility criteria specified below.
1.3. The Competition will run from 14 January 2025 to 16 March 2025. Submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.
2. Eligibility Requirements
2.1. To enter, participants must meet the following conditions:
- Possess a valid UK ID/passport/visa/residence permit at the time of application.
- Be 18 years or older as of 16 March 2025.
- Be 25 years or younger as of 16 March 2025.
- Have less than one (1) years of professional fashion design experience (including full-time, part-time, or freelance work).
2.2. Participants must not be:
- Employees of Skinnydip London.
- Immediate family members of Skinnydip employees.
3. Submission Guidelines
3.1. All designs must be submitted via email to designcompetition@skinnydiplondon.com.
3.2. Accepted file formats:
- Adobe Illustrator (.AI)
- Transparent PNG (.PNG)
3.3. Designs must be:
- Original and created solely by the participant.
- Free from any infringement of third-party intellectual property rights.
3.4. Participants may submit designs only once. Incomplete, invalid, or late submissions will not be accepted.
3.5. Participants may submit a maximum of one (1) design, which must be either a T-shirt, sweatshirt, or iPhone case design. Any attempts to submit more than one design may result in disqualification.
3.6. After submitting a design, participants cannot withdraw their submission until after the Competition has ended.
4. Competition Rules
4.1. Participants must adhere to all deadlines and requirements outlined by the Organiser. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.
4.2. The Organiser reserves the right to:
- Disqualify participants for failing to meet the eligibility criteria or submission requirements.
- Amend or cancel the Competition at its sole discretion.
- Change the prize(s) or terms without prior notice.
- Add or modify the Competition rules at any stage, and participants agree to comply with such changes.
4.3. Participants may be disqualified at any stage if their work:
- Breaches copyright laws.
- Are ineligible for as per competition eligibility requirements.
- Violates any of the stated terms and conditions.
4.4 The Winner will be selected based on the quality of their submitted design, by an internal team of judges.
5. Winner’s Prizes
5.1. The winner of the Competition will receive a collaboration contract with Skinnydip London, which includes:
- Designing their own exclusive range in collaboration with Skinnydip, consisting of:
- An iPhone case.
- A T-shirt.
- A sweatshirt.
- As part of the contract, the artist will receive royalty commissions on sales:
- 10% commission on net sales of iPhone case designs.
- 5% commission on net sales of clothing designs (T-shirts and sweatshirts).
- Royalty payments will be made on a quarterly basis.
- The range will be made available on Skinnydip London’s official website (www.skinnydiplondon.com).
5.2. The winner’s designs may be considered for retail opportunities with external retailers such as ASOS and Next. However, the participant acknowledges that there is no guarantee that these designs will be stocked or sold by external retailers.
5.3. The winner’s designs can be removed from the Skinnydip London website at their discretion.
5.4. The Prize is not transferable, negotiable, or exchangeable unless otherwise agreed in writing by Skinnydip London.
6. Finalist and Winner Obligations
6.1. Copyright Ownership: Finalists will retain copyright ownership of their designs and finished garments.
- The winning design cannot be sold to other brands or retailers without Skinnydip London’s prior written permission.
6.2. Skinnydip’s Use of Designs:
- Designs can be removed from Skinnydip London’s website at their discretion.
6.3. The winner will collaborate with Skinnydip London to finalise and produce their winning designs for commercial release.
6.4. Skinnydip London may use the winner’s name and photo as part of promotional content related to the Competition.
7. Intellectual Property and Liability
7.1. Participants must ensure that all submitted designs are original and free from copyright infringement.
7.2. Skinnydip London will not be held liable for:
- Plagiarism, intellectual property disputes, or third-party claims.
7.3. Participants will indemnify Skinnydip London against any claims, losses, or damages arising from violations of intellectual property laws.
7.4. Skinnydip assumes no liability for:
- Employment or contract conflicts caused by a participant’s involvement in the Competition.
8. Data Protection
8.1. Skinnydip London is committed to protecting participants’ personal information.
- All data provided will be used exclusively for Competition purposes.
- Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
8.2. By entering this Competition, participants agree that Skinnydip London may hold and use their personal data for the purpose of administering the Competition and prize draw.
8.3. Personal information will not be shared with third parties without prior consent, except as required by law or for Competition-related communications.
8.4. All competition entries will be kept for six (6) months after the end of the Competition, after which the files will be permanently deleted.
9. Anti-Discrimination Policy
9.1. Skinnydip London is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment. No participant will be treated unfairly or disadvantaged on the basis of their:
- Age.
- Ethnicity.
- Disability.
- Gender.
- Sexual orientation.
- Marital status.
- Nationality.
- Political views.
- Religion.
10. General Terms
10.1. By entering the Competition, participants agree to all terms and conditions set forth herein.
10.2. Participants declare that all details provided during the Competition cycle are accurate and truthful.
10.3. The Organiser’s decisions on all matters related to the Competition are final.
